In 2021, we contracted with The Buckingham Group to remodel our bathrooms and primary bedroom. We were impressed by the quality of their work and attention to detail. With our house being over 25 years old, we recognized there were other areas that needed attention (i.e. replacing existing carpet with wood floors, refinishing existing wood floors, adding new cabinets, replacing existing doors, reconfiguring archways, replacing base boards, and repainting walls and ceilings). Once again, we wanted the best remodeling firm in the region and chose The Buckingham Group. Their crew and subcontractors did a fabulous job!

We recently completed a home remodel project supervised by The Buckingham Group. Due to the extent of the work needed, the project spanned a period of approximately 4 months. Working with the professionals at Buckingham who coordinated all the work and communicated with us regularly regarding the status of the project, gave us confidence that the job would be completed as planned. The contract we signed with Buckingham before the work began clearly outlined their responsibilities and our responsibilities; having that conversation upfront, in writing, provided a solid foundation for the work ahead. This is not the first time we have relied on The Buckingham Group to provide quality remodeling on our home. They are always our first call when something important to us needs to be done.

Ed is not on the same page as his team, and it had disastrous results for my project. I initially discussed my project (living room addition with powder bath) and budget with both Kelly (over the phone) and Josh (visit to our house) in October, and both said I should have no problem making it happen. Josh said it was a simple project, to expect $150-200 per square foot before adding the bathroom, and that they could get it done before our baby was due in March. We signed a design contract shortly thereafter.
Things moved quickly at first, then abruptly stopped in January after subs visited our house. In March, Ed said we were 50% over budget. I asked why, he gave me a laundry list of things we had requested but no specific numbers on anything. I asked to see the bids he had collected, and after several times of asking he gave them to me (making sure to tell me no one had asked for that before in 40 years).
He offered to scale the proposal back to fit in our budget, then gave us a proposal that was 35% higher than our budget and did not include a bathroom.
The last ditch proposal came out to over $330 per square foot, some of that from “unexpected” expenses to remove a patio (which Josh saw on his initial visit and Ed certainly saw on his several visits). Ed then claimed he had estimated $200-250 per square foot, then later said he had told Josh $250. He did not apologize at any point for a miscommunication or even acknowledge that I was told $150-200, he just told me I should find another contractor who can do it cheaper.
Essentially, I paid $6,600 only to be condescended to and gaslit. Not ideal!

Our home was built in 1971 and has been in our family since 1975. By 1998 it was beginning to show its age and our family made the decision to remodel. The master bathroom became the first of many projects that The Buckingham Group would undertake for us. Since that initial remodel they have completed five additional projects, the last of which, some twenty-five years later, was an update of their original bathroom remodel. The scope or work undertaken by The Buckingham Group has ranged from minor maintenance to the total renovation of our kitchen, utility room and guest bathroom.
Independent of the scale of the project, our twenty-five-year relationship with them has been consistently positive. Their design services are one of the many attributes that distinguishes them from other firms in the field. They have the unique capability to reallocate space in a home to optimize its use. Complementing the design staff are their carpenters, who are actual employees of the company and a group of trade professionals, who are not only skilled craftsman, but have strong interpersonal skills as well.
Over the years they have transformed our house into a home that works well and brings pride and joy to us on a daily basis. If you have a remodel that you are considering, want to bring it in on time and on budget, contact The Buckingham Group. You will not be disappointed.

Work with this company on most of their projects and The Buckingham Group is one of the most organized and professionally ran remodeling firms I’ve ever worked with. They are always on time and very well scheduled as far as field work goes. 👍👍 Ed is amazing and the field supervisor is always on top of everything. Would recommend this company for everything you need done in your home from ADA updates, full outdoor living, bathrooms, kitchens and anything else you could imagine for your home.
